If you enter a bill, we convert it to consumption using your unit price. That is an approximation — bills carry standing charges and other costs that aren't consumption, so entering metered usage directly gives a better figure.
The guidance requires a site to use at least 33 MWh of grid-supplied electricity a year. A site at exactly 33 MWh meets it. On-site generation does not count.
25% or less of site electricity used for eligible manufacturing gives a 0% exemption; more than 25% but less than 50% gives 50%; 50% or more gives 100%. Note that 25% itself sits in the 0% band.
The government describes BICS as reducing electricity costs by up to £40 per MWh. We apply that as a ceiling, so the figure shown is a best case rather than a forecast.
Simply the annual estimate across a typical 5-year approval period. It assumes consumption and eligibility hold steady, which in practice they rarely do exactly.
